Could you get a photo of this lump? It might help everyone see what you're speaking of.
Being upside down is usually a swim bladder problem. You can try everything from medications to diet changes for this. Even if it reverses itself, the fish will be prone to getting it again. It's acually a common problem with fancy goldfish. Search the web and go with what works best for you.
Can't say for sure that the lump has anything to do with it. It could be causing it, it could be caused by it, or it might be something completely unrelated. A lot of times lumps are cysts or tumors.
Best of luck.
:My goldfish had been floating upside down for a couple months, but could always flip himself over. I'm away at school so I haven't been able to keep track of his progress, when i was home over the new year he was a little worse, but no one could tell me how to fix him. When I came home this time he's upside down all the time, and there's a veiny bubble on one half of his underbelly. He really looks unhappy and I'd like to save him.... is it too late? What's going on? There are other goldfish in the tank and they're doing just fine.
:Thanks in advice for helping!
