This is my first post to this message board. I have a few questions about the Goby Knight. We have a 55 gallon tank which we received for christmas. We had four four African Cichlids in a twenty gallon tank which we moved over to the new tank. Someone went out and bought us a Goby Knight. At first the fish seemed fine. He ate but the only thing was he would never leave the comfort of a fake plant we had. All day long, the other fish would swim and he would just sit there. One day we came home to find him in sorry shape. It looked like hi fins had just mostly disintergrated. We removed him from the big tank and set up a 10 gallon tank. We gave him some medicine (I don't remember what) and he gradually got bettter. Somehow he grew back his fins and looked pretty good. Anyway, i think he was being harrassed by the African Cichlids and that is the reason he is was in such pitiful shape. So we have him back in the 55 gallon tank and are using a seperator. I have the Goby all alone and he seems good. Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this? When I did some reading I was shocked that the Goby is a saltwater fish. Our friend who bought the fish asked the guy at the store if he can keep it with African Cichlids and the guy told him it shouldn't be a problem. The PH is already pretty high for the African's. We used crushed coral to keep it up. Now my girlfriend thinks if ew buy another one, we could let both of them in with the African's and they should get along. What do you folks think? Also, is there anywhere I can get extensice info on these fish? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!
