Like you I got the Dragon fish becouse he\she's so ugly he\she's cute and he\she died in a few weeks to. I didn't know what the deal was whith that so I took a sample of my water to the LFS for them to test it and it was ok. After a while longer I got another one about half the size as the first one. He\she lived till about the size as the first one and died, so I spent alot of time saerching the internet about them and found they need brackish water. So I set up one and used Aquarium Salt the directions calls for one tablespoon added to each five gallons of fresh water. That gives a gravity of about 1.001 witch almost all fish can take so I had it with 3 Pictus Catfish, 1 Green Tiger Barbs, and 2 Raphael Catfish, and still the Dragon fish died in a few months. Very very mad, sad, and more determined to keep this fish I did more and more research on them and finaly did it. It's said they can live in fresh to salt water and pepole do get them to live in fresh water but I found it to work the best to create the brackish water with weekly 20% water changes 4-6 weeks of synthetic sea salt added to a gravity of 1.018 and then 4-6 with just fresh water and start it all over. I have 2 Dragon fish, 4 Columbian Shark, and 1 Green Spotted Puffer. I feed them frozen brine shrimp, blood worms, and clams. most pepole that work at the LFS didn't know anything about them and stoped stocking them in there store after a sort time, one of the stores that I talked to did bring them back and do well with them after I told them all I know about them. It was nice to hear what I told them come back to me from one of there new helpers that didn't know me yet:) It's ben 1 1\2 years making a home for my frends (in this tank) and there still going strong
