Motoros tend to be one of the hardiest rays available, while a few of the species termed "teacups" can be quite fragile. With out knowing the species of teacup it can't be determined which would be a better first ray. However, rays normally don't make very good novice fish and are not relatively easy to care for, say compared to just about every other fish you can find at just about any lfs. Many are imported in terrible condition. If you are still going to get one anyways, you need a big tank, even for the "teacup" rays. I personally wouldn't put one in anything less then a 100 gallon aquarium. This size of tank will help you keep the pristine conditions these fish need in order to even stay alive. Also, rays are much more active then most people seem to think, and given their wide bodies, they need a wide tank. Rays look cool, but unless you have the room and dedication, leave them for someone else.
On to the clown knife. Clown knives get WAY bigger then nearly anyone can house. Most of the species get well over four feet. Unless you see a 600 gallon in the near future, don't get one.
