Too true Katt! although I've seen fire-eels over 2 1/2 feet in shows. These monsters are very impressive and rarely encountered.

The maximum size for a "peacock eel" in the wild is about 18 inches, but like you say, they don't get that big in aquaria (usualy). The largest I've kept was 11 inches.
