Have you taken a biology course yet? Genetics gets pretty complicated, but let me think of how to explain this... The parent guppies have the colors that show as their phenotype. These are the genes that are presented as their physical attributes. Their genotype probably contained strains that didn't show up in their physical attributes, it stayed hidden within their genetic make-up. Those different strains came out in their fry. So, what you see in those little ones are colors that the parents may have not shown as phenotypes, but were present as genotypes.
