Hi everyone, I have a 55gal. tank with guppies, mollies, swordtails, scissortails, catfish, and lemon tetras in it. I have only had a tank since the 1st. of Dec. so I am still learning.I had 35 guppy fry in a floating breeder in the 55 gal tank. They are about 3 weeks old and I have two pregnant mollies. I set up a 29gal tank tonight and put the filter from the 55 in it to help start the cycle. I put the babies in a bowl and started adding a little of the new tank water in every 10 minutes till I had tripled the water amount. I added them to the tank they are eating and seem to be doing fine. I am going to divide the tank into three sections to seperate the males and females as soon as I can see the difference.
Now for the questions, please tell me if you think this set up will work. When the pregnant fish start getting the box shape(my fish never stop eating when they are having babies)should I put them in the breeder box in the 55gal. or move them to the 29gal. to have their babies? How quick will it take for the fish to grow to adult size? They are still tiny. When will they begin to get their color? Right now they are kind of clear with some black. The male has black over 3/4's of his body. Thanks for your help and any suggestions about raising this type of fish. Kim
