:I have been having a problem with losing all of one sex of a fish. I am left with 2 female and 1 male red swordtail, 2 female pineapple swordtails; 2 male guppies and 2 female black lyretail mollies. I have heard that guppies and mollies will interbreed - is that true? Will the different swordtails breed with each other? Every time I add fish to my tank I lose some, so can I just keep the ones I have now, or do I need to get the correct mates?

Your swordtails will interbreed with each other. They are all the same genus and species no matter what color they are. Swords and plattys will also interbreed. Mollies and guppies will only breed with other mollies and guppies will only breed with other guppies. Sorry, you will not wind up with a "Moppy" when trying to cross the two :-)
