they never really show up on the chart. I usually only test the nitrites and nitrates infrequently but check amonia regularly and it never even shows a hint of yellow. It seemed that if I kept the amonia in check the others stayed right along with it. I do 1/4 water change twice a week and never had any problems. I bought the barbs on a Friday and half were dead by Sunday. I went back Monday to the petstore and they had lost nearly half of the barbs by then. I guess I should have a quarantine tank but never really had a problem until now. The tank has been set up for over 18 months and I have had more fish than that in it a couple times with no problems. I used to have several species of rainbows in with the tank but sold them when they got adult size. I just added the barbs after I got rid of them. It is well planted but not real dense so there is a lot of swimming room. There is no doubt the barbs brought something into the tank.
