Recently over the past few days I've noticed my gourami has come down with dropsy. I tested my water and I have 0 nitrite/nitrate, 0 ammonia, ph 7, temp 77F. I removed him and put him in a hospital tank and have been treating him with Maracyn-Two, salt and medicated food but he seems to have gotten more puffed out. He has a lot of stringy white waste hanging out of him. Is there anything else I can do to help speed up the process of getting him better and any idea what caused this? I have purchased almost all of my fish from PetSmart and sadly several have died from what I suspect to have been some sort of internal infection. Perhaps I should purchase my fish elsewhere? Seems like a lot of them get this.
