Discus not eating...getting thin!

Hello All,
I am new to discus keeping and to this forum. I bought my first discus about 2 1/2 weeks ago (he's about 2-3 inches in size). He seems fine except for the fact that he is not eating, and I'm starting to get worried. I have tried Spirulina flake food, a pellet discus food which I crumbled before putting in the tank, freeze dried brine shrimp, and Tetra whole brine shrimp. I saw him eat the dried brine shrimp maybe once and he's gone after the flake but will spit it out.
He's in a 30 gallon tank with a dwarf gourami, some zebra danios, and two cory cats. I haven't noticed any bullying or chasing.
Temp is 86F, pH 6.8, ammonia 0, KH 53.7, nitrite 0, nitrate is up a bit the past few days but I have added NitraZorb filter media for this and have been doing daily water changes (about 30 % each time).
I have one side of the tank heavily planted for him to hide in and have a 50/50 bulb so it's not so bright in the tank.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He's really starting to look thin and I'm afraid he's just going to starve to death.
Thanks.
Dawn
