Difficulties eating/ingesting food

I have an adult discus that is having difficulty ingesting/capturing food. I am feeding him frozen bloodworm cubes and have tried live as well. He is pursuing the food but is unable to capture it. He definitely sees the food but it looks like he has difficulties in the mouth muscle movements necessary to ingest food. Its almost like his jaw locks open and he just lunges at the food. Please advise. I don't want to misdiagnose this problem.
