ok, another question. In a nicley planted tank though, couldn't the plants keep most of the nitrates down to a low level? I do plan on checking every day, the nitrates, nitrites, ph (which is at 6.5) and ammonia. Also, The tank has been running for a lond time, so the bacteria count has got to be high. to tell the truth, I am not going to ditch the plants, they look too nce right now. Also, I have decided to place only 5 discus in the tank. I am starting with small ones, only 4, then I will be adding a larger one later on. I am also getting a second wisper 3 filter for the other side of the tank. Is there any other way I can keep nitrates down, without doing a w/c every other day?
Another question. I just got a trio of Killifish. I don;t know if anyone knows about Killis, but will they, in any way, effect the discus? They are pretty small, and right now the only thing I think I should be worried about is the discus seeing them as a snack. I put in platys so that the discus could maybe find the babies as food, hopfully detering them from eating the killis. Is this assumption an acurate one. The Killies are about 1 in. long.
