Thanks for the continued advice, this is a good and friendly forum!
I am more-or-less a beginner and inherited a couple of 5" Jewel cichlids (Hemichromis bimaculatus or maybe H.guttatus). At last post I had separated them because one was a bully.
So... I would still like to get these guys into one auarium (as mentioned before... think I will try a 4ft, 55gal, with lots of rocks/hiding places/visual barriers, and a few plants.) A few people have recomended tankmates, but I am quite limited by local availabity (and by personal finicknes!)
Do you think I could keep a pair of Kribbs (P. pulcher) with them? They seem to come from simmilar locals. The Kribbs are slightly smaller, but are reputedly hardy, and come highly recomended.
On top of this, (maybe I am really pushing it for a 4ft tank?), a small school of small upper-dwelling fish could help to round it out visually, and also "dither" some of the aggression. I even wonder about threadfin or celebs rainbows. (not from the same area, I know (but neither are most barbs or tetras), and maybe a bit too small?
