a 5 inch red empress that is a grey with spots sounds like a hybrid which won't ever achieve proper coloration.

3 inch red peacocks which are drabby brown with red tail spots sound like females that will remain drab brown.

spotted (O.B.) peacocks might be male or female and there's no way to tell right now.

a 4 inch compreciseps is too small to have developed sexually mature color and thus, there's no way to tell if it will attain the color of a sexually mature male.

more colorful babys may be treated with hormones to prematurely develop color. such fish will almost always be sterile and never develop full color. the premature coloration will fade as these fish grow.
