Depends how much natural food there is in the tank. If there is alot of algae maybe you won't need to give extra but give him one and see how much he eats. If he polishes it off try another but make sure to remove any uneaten food. Algae wafers are a favourite but make sure to give him regular sinking food a few times a week to make sure he gets all the nutrition he needs, like Tetra TabiMin or Prima. One of mine has learned to ask for food. He has a dish for tablets and pellets and will hang over it when he's hungry.
