I am primarily a keeper of discus, but at one time I had three cory cats in my 55 gallon. Two of them died almost a year ago around the same time. For some time now (nearly a year), the lone surviving cory cat has been missing all of his fins, and the scales appear to be missing over most of the fish. It appears almost as a burn victim with large patches of missing scales. But he remained alive and continued to be active. I feel terrible about it, mainly because I'm not sure what I've done to cause this. My water conditions are impeccable since discus, the main fish in the tank (there are also a couple of tetra) require frequent water changes. The temp is a little on the high end--82F, but this is also recommended for discus. PH is about 6.4. Lately, the cory has been "Playing dead" as I refer to it. Several times, I nearly removed him because I thought he was gone, then when I move the net near him, he begins moving again. But I don't think he's doing well, because for the last several weeks, this has become more and more frequent. Anyone know what may have caused the original condition or this current behavior? Could they be related?
Thanks.
