:the only common name I could find was false perrunichthys, refering to the genus of the Perruna catfish. I would think if the learius was bigger than the red tail they might well co-exist for a while, but I'd imagine the red tail will quickly outpace the learius growth wise, and eventually terrorize/eat it. I have some large pimelodid cats myself, 3 tiger shovel noses (16-19"), and perruna cat (19-20") which all live in my 250 gallon, and they continue to rank among the fastest growers (although most every fish in that tank is getting big fast, except the datnioides)I recently aquired a small pair of red tails, which have already made the first shift from the "safe" tank to the next, and will soon need to move again, as they seem to grow at least as fast as the other pimelodids did (the perruna went from a 3" cute little fish in June of '02 to 20" eatin' everything beast now in Feb of '03, same essentially for the tigers)But I can see it now, having all 6 predatory cats in one tank.....nothing smaller than the biggest mouth will ever be safe again!!! Which makes me think I better get to the gym.......
