It depends on the species to a certain extent but most can be sexed by the female being plumper and often longer than the male. I'm new to the forum too but not to Corys, I've had your usual peppers and things, now I have 4 Brochis splendens, 3 Cory, elegens and 2 Cory barbatus. All quite comical little guys :-)
