About the feeding, I find that, when it comes to feeding, bettas can be put two groups. Group one will eat the more commercialized food, eg. food that's named something like "Betta Grub, Specialized formula just for bettas," or even fish flakes, not that those foods are unhealthy or anything as long as you vary your fish's diet, as well as plain brine shrimp or tubifex worms. The other group will eat pretty much only home-grown food, and maybe their favorite freeze dried food (my bettas seem to like blood worms the best), but won't go near food like betta bites or flake foods (flake foods are generally disliked by bettas, although some of the less discriminating fish from group one might eat flakes). So, in short, if you can classify your betta's food preference, it will be a bit easier to feed them. I would give a more descriptive list of betta eating habbits, and preferences, but I gotta go. BTW yes, bettas are more colorful at higher temperatures, but disseases are thrive better in warmer waters, and nitrite and ammonia build up more quickly, so I always shoot for about 75oF. You can read more about this at my new website Bettaholics Anonymous.
