I guess it really depends on your tank size and the temperament of your particular betta. I've heard that angelfish can be nippy and really aren't a good tank mate for bettas. On the other hand, I've heard that mollies and platties make excellent tank mates for them.... providing they all have enough space and aren't too cramped. I've seen bettas together with mollies in community tanks with no problems... I've even seen a male and female betta together in a 30gal community with no problems. However, the only company my betta seems to like is his snail. He enjoys watching him and resting on his shell when he clings to the side of the tank.
