:..er, that is that my fish is hiding, not that I need to hide him. :)
:I'm worried about my betta fish. I got him two weeks ago and I keep him in a 2.5 gallon tank with a Whisper internal filter. He has a rock and a live plant. The temperature is 80+/-2 degrees (it goes down a bit when the light is off for the night). He eats fine but that is the only time he comes out from behind the filter or his rock. He seems to want to hide most of the time. Is he just getting used to his new home or is there something wrong? Should I move the plant (it takes up a lot of the midwater swimming space)?
:Thanks so much for advice :)
Thanks so much for your replies you two :)
The fish is in a tank that can be seen here:

It has a Whisper 2-5 Internal Micro filter. That does create a bit of a current and I did not know that would bother him. I should probably set it on the lower flow setting.
I do not have a heater as the light heats up the tank during the day--hence the temperature fluctuation. If I could find a small enough heater perhaps I could set it up to kick in only at night. It is hard to find a heater for a 2.5 gallon tank!
He mainly hides behind the filter or behind his rock. Not exploring, only hiding. He loves to eat. I feed him HBH betta bites (he hates flake food, won't touch it) every other day.I have only had him a short while so have not changed the water yet. I planned to do a 1/3 change every 10-14 days.
Thanks again so much for all your help. I just want him to be a happy fish :)
