Though I've never had moonlights, most types of top dwelling gouramis don't mix, especially if they are both males. With most larger gouramis you need 7 females to every 1 male to have a good mix, or a very long tank.
As for getting him better, Kelly's advise was good. You may want to permanently find him another tank if the other one is that aggressive.

:Also a few weeks a go he got REALLY badly beat up by my Opaline Gourami. I mean like HUGE patches of skin were hanging off his body. It's been quite a while now and he still isn't back to normal. ARe Opalines usually that agressive?
