...and while it is true that different species prefer different ranges of pH, very few need exactly 7.0, or any other specific pH for that matter. Most of us use the pH info to try to choose species with compataible needs for our tanks.

Many of us acclimate the fish we get to our local pH, so that we don't have to manage it to death. I have found most of those pH correction products to be temporary at best, and the pH swings to be far worse for the fish than acclimating them to one stable pH.
