the difference between a betta and a goldfish...assuming his girlfriend told him it was a goldfish or that he just knows.

I realize that Bettas build bubble nests.

The conditions that I describe in my post to him could lead to goldfish behaving the way that he describes and the bubbles appearing on the water surface.

I guess we will have to wait to heart more from the original poster to clarify some things, but I am betting it is a water quality issue.

:MIchelle- I think he's talking about a betta, since "bubbling" is super common behavior for them (and it took my own boyfriend about 2 years to discern the difference between goldfish and betta)

:But if he's not are there any circumstances that would cause a goldfish to create bubbles like he describes? The only problems I've ever seen goldfish get are basically your run of the mill infection, but I've never seen them blow bubbles. Have they been known to do so?
