For your civil response, that makes sense. But I would like to ask three other questions of the admin:

1) Are you able to edit out posts, rather than delete them outright on this forum? That way, you could leave up the non-violating part of a mixed msg, and also issue a warning so that the poster knows what he/she did wrong for future reference.

2) If I were just to chat about something off-topic with my friend, but post a link to an outside site, would that count as advertizing? There are many boards allow for this, even tightly moderated ones, which is why I ask...

3) Do you have a written policy on when a user is banned? For example, "User ignores warning about rule violation 3 times". I am asking because 2 of my friends claim they were banned from this board, and they are still unsure exactly rule it was that they violated.

I would just say in closing that I understanding why these rules exist, but you should understand also that many people were directed here by Acmepet's closing msg, and that Acmepet had a fairly open environment and a different set of rules. I just wish that the admin here would show a little bit more tolerance of "immigrants" as they learn your new rules, as each online forum is different. Thanks for your patience.

:Please understand one thing. PetHobbyist is a business and as a business we earn a living with advertising along with the number of folks who frequent our boards. We are not here to provide a place for you to solicite folks to another web site. Would you go to a friend's party and once there, tell everyone to come to your house where the party will be more fun?

:We have tried to be accommodating about off-topic discussion and have provided you with a place for it. No posts were removed for off-topic discussion on this board. However, we will remove posts that violate our rules. Just because someone says their post was removed for a reason does not make it so.

:We are glad to have you here and have welcomed you. We have provided a place for off-topic discussion like you asked for. But the off topic discussion should not include trying to take folks away from here. And it will not include bashing us. We ask that you follow our posting guidelines as on any board. It's really pretty simple.

:That said, we welcome you folks from the Acme boards and we hope you will enjoy your stay here.
