I realize that there are rules to follow on every board, and everyone will set will be a little different, and I respect that. I moderate other forums myself, and have in the past been regular on 8 of them, including this one, back when it had no registration or admin. But to be so strict about it in an off-topic chat, I really do feel is very unwelcoming; after all, PetsMart was the one who linked to PH, and left us with no alternative as a means to get in touch with one another. For example, recently I posted just a bunch of hellos to people here, where I was told we could talk about issues to each other. These are my friends, not strangers I am trying to "advertize" to. All I offered them was an alternative place to go for more relaxed conversation that won't be monitored as strictly, which is obviously not something you are promoting here. It is not my site, and it is not even a site anyone makes money off of either, just letting people know they have an alternative place to get together. And I said more in that post than just "go to this site, it's great"... I also said hello to my friends, yet that post was deleted also. I would like the opportunity to talk to people I haven't chatted with in over a year, nothing more, and I don't feel like this directly overstepped the bounds of this board, which I have read:
Advertising anything in the forums/message boards, except for events, is prohibited.
All posts that merely say "Look at my website" will be removed.
Those are the only two that I feel like I have even come close to violating. If you could be clearer about what counts as "advertizing", it might help guide us in where the boundaries are. Thank you.
