Well, the dude is still alive, but spends his time actually laying on his side on the bottom of the bare 27gal tank they are in.

I bought meds for parasites and some tetracycline (antibiotic) tablets, so I will try those for a few days. Otherwise I think I should put the poor fellow out of his mysery.

I will also start cutting my tapwater (hard, alkaline) with some melted snow water, and see if that helps.

I would sort of like to lower the water level because the expensive meds are added per gallon (couldn't find any in fish-food-pellet form). On the other hand, I think it is easier to ensure high-quality water by keeping the volume up.

I have a sheet over the tank, so they don't get stressed by light and motion in the room.
