Fin and Tail Rot-Maricyn-2?

I bought a Koi angel from my LFS on Saturday evening and when I got it home I noticed its side fins very shredded. I called LFS the next morning to ask what it might be, thinking some sort of bacterial infection or something "eating" away at the fins. Didn't look bitten, more evening shredded. For some reason they sent me home with rid ich, I still am mad at them for that one, because I told them it had no white spots on it. However, Monday morning it showed up with a white "puff" on it's tail fin. So, now I knew it was not ich and went to a different LFS and after reading all the boxes of medication picked out maricyn-two. Would anyone have any input on my choice? It says it won't kill my biological filtration and it totally non-toxic so it won't harm my other fish or plants. Anyone have any good results with this medicine? Also, it hasn't eaten yet, but from the sounds of it, people often have this problem with angels when they are not feeling well. I have tried flake and frozen brine, what else do you think might entice it, once it is felling better, that is.
