Maybe I am fortunate but my couple are very obvious, my Boy has a very clearly seen member, about 3 mm in length, and my girl is much wider when she looks at you head on. Also the Boy will do most of the herding even when they are not mating. In other words, when they swim together, He will usually dictate which direction they take (if they're a couple for sure.)
