It's very subtle. And even experienced Angelfish breeders have been known to guess wrong. The only certain way to tell is when they spawn. The breeding "tubes" will be displayed, and the female will be much larger and wider than the male. The male usually has a small pin point tube.
With juveniles, the males will typically grow a little faster. However, that is just within a single spawn and is not 100% certain.
