Is my Anemone dying? Please Help!

I jut bought my first anemone today and it was looking great! I am into the 11th hour, and I just noticed it shot flemy looking stuff out of it, and immediately shrunk down (all tenacles turned purplish, and went inside,(and are now just hanging) The body is all shrunken in size. It looks lifeless! I am panicking! Can you please help me with some info? Thank you. Please email me if you'd like. I would greatly appreciate it! Sincerely, John
